Due to the increased number of inquiries only if your first contact is complete, I will get back to you as soon as possible, depending on our show/performance and breeding schedule. It can take a couple weeks sometimes.
Depends on what you are looking for. Gender/color inquiries will might be a longer waiting time. We have no control over Mother Nature. Average between 6 months to 1 year, maybe sooner if there is a litter coming and more puppies are born than expected.
Q: Why is taking so long to get a Barbet?
A: They are a rare breed, here is about 10000 registered Barbet as of today in the World.
To keep them healthy, free of diseases and authentic temperament, we do not overbreed them, protect them, hence the breeding stock isn't as many.
Q: How many Barbet puppies are produced in the USA a year?
A: Difficult to tell the exact count, even with the increased number of females and breeders the last couple years, maybe about 200 in a good year.
Q: Can I bring back a Barbet from abroad?
A: You can. You will need to comply with foreign rules, travel requirements, vaccination protocol, new registration fees and taxes, and find a breeder who will agree to import a puppy.
Q: How many puppies you have in a litter?
A: In average 6-8
Q: What color are the Barbets?
A: Most likely black and brown, with or without some white markings, more rare fawn, white or pied.
Q: Are they hypoallergenic?
A: No, hypoallergenic dog doesn't exist. As they have hair not fur, people who has allergies to pet dander will tolerate them better.
In allergy season you will still need to brush your dog daily and bathe more frequently, just like you would do it with your own hair to get the allergens out of it.
Q: Do they eat a lot?
A: Not as much I would say as a Labrador Retriever. Barbets are eating to cut hunger. If they worked hard a day, they will eat more. On lazy days, they will snack.
Q: Why feeding raw?
A: Please check out our page above about raw feeding versus kibble.
Q: Do the Barbet has allergies?
A: They can respond and develop some allergies to environmental allergies, like pollen, or food, most likely to food fillers, lawn treatments., etc
